Attendees will learn how to safely renovate older housing, prevent childhood lead poisoning and minimize mold hazards, as well as, protect yourself and workers. Mold is a common result of water damage and hidden moisture problems in homes of any age. Both, Lead and Mold exposure can pose a serious health risk to families, especially children, and the workers themselves.
This workshop demonstrating safe lead and mold control in home renovations. It will prepare you to comply with the EPA (Enviornmental Protection Agency) new Renovation, Repair and Painting Rule. Those who attend and pass a brief test will receive a Certificate that qualifies them to work with contractors receiving federal money for construction and maintenance work on older housing.
Contractors disturbing paint in most housing and child-occupied facilities built before 1978 will need to be certified by EPA after April 22, 2010 and comply with EPA’s new lead-safe work practice requirements. With this training, you will ONLY need to take a one-half day REFRESHER training instead of a one-day initial training when the new certified renovator training is offered in late 2009.
Qualifies for 7 CEUs (continuing education units) for Louisiana Residential Contractors.
